Entoto Panoramic Wellness Resort

Eco-sensitive hillside architecture blending heavy timber engineering, light-touch foundations, and breathtaking highland vistas.

01 // PROJECT OVERVIEW

Architectural Brief & Programmatic Vision

Set in the pristine eucalyptus hills of Entoto overlooking Addis Ababa, this wellness resort required ultra-low site impact. SEMAYI engineered elevated steel and mass-timber structural platforms that preserve native forest root systems while delivering luxury hospitality spaces.

02 // CONSULTANCY SCOPE

SEMAYI Engineering & Advisory Responsibilities

Hillside slope stability analysis and geotechnical micropile engineering
Environmental sensitivity planning and zero-runoff stormwater systems
Mass-timber and structural steel modular framing details
Municipal environmental compliance documentation

03 // TECHNICAL APPROACH

Structural Methodology & Code Compliance

By elevating chalets on lightweight steel tripods anchored by micropiles, we avoided large-scale earthmoving, preserving the delicate hillside ecology and providing visitors with uninterrupted panoramic perspectives.

Structural System Hybrid Structural Steel and Glue-Laminated Timber (Glulam)
Foundation Substructure High-Capacity Micropiles Drilled into Hillside Basalt
Building Envelope Triple-Glazed Thermally Broken Wood-Composite Curtain Walls
Sustainability Profile 100% Off-grid Solar PV Microgrid and Passive Geothermal Warming

04 // VISUAL DOCUMENTATION

High-Resolution Gallery & Blueprints

05 // ENGINEERING RESOLUTIONS

Challenges & Technical Interventions

CHALLENGE 01:

Steep 35-degree terrain prone to soil erosion during heavy rainy seasons.

SEMAYI RESOLUTION: Engineered terraced gabion retaining structures and micropile clusters tied with grade tension ties to eliminate slope slip hazards.
